What We Offer on the Floor
Playtime Casino Hanover sits at 275 5th St in Hanover, Ontario, operating as a full-service gaming venue under Gateway Casinos and Entertainment Limited. We are not built like a massive resort complex, and we do not try to be. Our focus is local players who want a solid night out without planning a full trip into a major city.
On our floor you will find more than 300 multi-denomination slot machines. That amount of content gives regular guests enough rotation to move between titles from visit to visit without always ending up at the same game. Stakes vary across the floor, so you can speed up or slow down your spend without having to restart the whole session.
Bingo runs as its own product alongside the slots. Both are easy to reach, but the setup keeps the groups from getting in each other’s way - separate areas, separate timing. Casual dining is built straight into the casino, with no need to book a table or buy a separate ticket. If you feel like having a bite halfway through your play, you just walk over and order.

The property mainly serves Grey County and neighbouring communities as a regular neighbourhood entertainment spot. It is not built as a one-time destination trip, more as a familiar place you can return to.
The Slot Library and Floor Layout
Our gaming floor is arranged around the slot experience. With more than 300 units active, the room carries real variety, not just the same few cabinets mirrored across long rows. Multi-denomination setups allow you to adjust your pace from the screen itself, without moving to another section or waiting for staff to change anything.
Among the confirmed titles on the floor you will find Bonnie and Clyde, Quick Hit, and Hot Hot 8. These are established games with mechanics that a lot of Ontario players already recognize. If you have visited another Gateway property and tried these titles there, the experience at Hanover will feel familiar. The Playtime standard across all locations is to keep the slot mix current, and our floor updates in line with that approach.
Bingo sessions follow their own calendar. Players who mainly come for bingo can time their visit around that, and move through the building without needing to use the slot floor at all. The separation between the two products is very straightforward and in daily work it turns out more comfortable than it might look on paper.
One practical note from our side: when you are planning a visit around one specific game, giving the venue a quick call is worth the effort. Slot lineups evolve and rotate, and a cabinet that is here this month may be swapped out or relocated later.
History of the Hanover Property
The Hanover casino first opened its doors in 1999, operating as a charity casino in Ontario. It worked in that format for close to twenty years until Gateway completed a major renovation and rebrand in 2019. That CAD 18 million project reshaped the property into the current Playtime Casino Hanover model and aligned it with Gateway’s broader brand identity in Ontario and British Columbia.
Design firm MackayWong described the refreshed interior as “welcoming, joyful and fun”. That wording is marketing, of course, but it does reflect what we were aiming for. The space leans toward a casual neighbourhood feel instead of a huge, high-ceiling resort setup.
In February 2026, we marked our 25th anniversary in Hanover with local celebrations, promotions on the floor, and several community support initiatives. Outlets like Gaming America and Yogonet covered the milestone, and highlighted how Gateway pushed the community angle as part of the anniversary program. Twenty-five years in the same town is a decent run for any venue.
| Milestone | Year |
|---|---|
| Original opening as charity casino | 1999 |
| Gateway renovation and rebrand | 2019 |
| 25th anniversary celebrations | 2026 |
| Renovation investment | CAD 18 million |
The casino property is located next to a harness racing facility. Together they form a broader entertainment pocket for the region, even though casino and racing operations are managed as separate businesses.
